Safe Ba Ang Nakahain sa Mesa?

As COVID-19 spreads around the world, a lot of people are feeling uneasy when it comes to daily routines including grocery shopping and even cooking at home.

We’ve been taught to wash our hands, utensils and kitchen surfaces before preparing and cooking our food.

Wash hands as often as possible

Unpacking grocery items and storing them

Again, wash your hands and make sure to sanitize your kitchen especially your table and countertops.

What about reusable cloth bags? According to experts, it is recommended to soak them in hot water after use. If you don’t or can’t throw disposable plastic bags, you must wipe or spray them with alcohol because as we all know, the virus can thrive on these surfaces for days.

Washing fresh produce and items from the grocery

Imagine how many people touched those items in the grocery before purchasing them so make sure to wash vegetables and fruits thoroughly.

Always be on the safe side. As long as sinusunod mo ang basic food handling guidelines, wala kang dapat ipag-alala.

Good thing is that COVID-19 is not foodborne at kayang-kaya itong maiwasan sa regular na paghuhugas ng kamay at pagdi-disinfect lalo na sa paghahanda at pagluluto para sa pamilya. Being cautious is good but don’t be too paranoid na darating na sa punto na malilimutan na natin ang mga mas mahahalagang bagay.

Always think about the basics – palaging paghuhugas ng kamay, social distancing, pagsusuot ng face masks at face shield sa tuwing lalabas ng bahay at pag-iwas sa palagiang paghawak sa mukha. Do these religously especially in the kitchen and you won’t have to worry about catching COVID-19.
