Have you ever thought that you’re wasting your money every time you buy a new SIM card whenever you’re on vacation in the Philippines?

It can be kind of inconvenient to have a new number and to have to remember it every time you buy load or make a transaction in the Philippines.

But did you know that you can keep your Philippine SIM card active abroad without having to buy a roaming load every time it expires?

That’s great news, especially for GCash users who rely on the app for various daily activities in the Philippines like paying bills, shopping online, or investing with GInvest. Excited about this news? Let’s dive into the tutorial.

First and foremost, before traveling abroad with your new SIM card, make sure you have already registered your Philippine SIM card with the network you intend to use. For this tutorial, let’s consider using a Globe SIM card.

Once you arrive abroad, like in Italy where I currently reside, insert the SIM card into your phone. It’s normal if your SIM doesn’t have a signal initially because you will need to set it up.

To set up the signal, follow these steps:

1. Go to the settings of your phone.

2. Select ‘Network and Internet Settings’.

3. Look for the option ‘Mobile Network’.

4. Dive into ‘Network’; if needed, explore ‘More’ to see additional options.

5. Disable ‘Automatically Select Network’.

6. Choose ‘Network’, and a list of available networks will be displayed.

7. Select the available network listed on your phone.

8. You may need to try connecting to each network listed until your SIM finds a signal. Once connected, you will receive welcome message from Globe.

Important note: This method may not be compatible with every type of phone. If it doesn’t work initially, try another phone until you succeed. For a visual guide, consider watching the video tutorial for a more hands-on demonstration.
